With the CE-label, which stands for „Communautés Européennes” (“European Community”), consumers can see at once that a product complies with the guidelines set upon the producer by the European Union. The label is attached if a guideline exists for the product in question.
The producer therewith attests the compliance with the CE-guidelines. Thus the CE-label is an indicator that the marked product complies with the regulatory requirements of the EU regarding health protection, environmental protection and safety. The CE-label is no seal of quality, but rather a statement of the producer that the product has been manufactured following EU guidelines. Prerequisite is the control and approval of strictest conformity to standards by an independent body.
Basically, the CE-label acts as a control label, which makes the control of products easier for occupational safety and health commissioners in the EU countries.
